Deanna Power, who works with Social Security Disability Help, was impressed with our website and provided this link for help with SSD and Peripheral Neuropathy.
I read the link and noted the following suggestions to her.
To add to the list of TESTS the SKIN BIOPSY for Small fiber Neuropathy. If the tests for the EMG and Nerve Conduct Test does not show damage, often the damage is to small fibers and this will not show up on the other tests!
I suggested that she offer the qualification which makes it more difficult for patients the fact that you can have symptoms of neuropathy, motor, sensory, or autonomic without damage showing up. If this is the case, I provide patients who ask me with the powerful use of an AFFIDAVIT (short of before they could do this) and (now they can do this) as testified by those who know them, professionals, friends, etc.
The other thing I forgot to suggest was the results of Evoked Potentials Test for confirmation of Autonomic Neuropathy.
A long time ago, my SSD was approved based on affidavits at the Administrative Judge level, but we have come a long way since then in knowledge that more doctors are aware of… but we still have a way to go.
Anyone who wants a copy of the document on AFFIDAVITS should E Mail me at gene@neuropathysupportnetwork.org for a copy.
